Children embarked on the journey of caring for the earth during earth week, which we held from 17-21 April 2023. Children were introduced to the topic of why everyone should care for the earth and gave suggestions on how they can help.
Day 1: make totebags out of t-shirts
Children were taught to use reusable bags when they do for shopping with their family so as to reduce the use of plastic bags. Children reflected on how much plastic bags are thrown in a day, how people little plastic in the sea and how much it can cause harm to sea life.
Day 2: Cleaning up the environment
Children talked about whether they have seen people litter. Children talked about they can help to save the earth by keeping it clean. Children went out and collected rubbish with the use of tongs/glove and throwed it away in the rubbish bin/bag
Day 3: Make a slogan
Children decided to create slogan and posters and parade around the neighborhood to create awareness of keeping Singapore clean and making the Earth a better place to live in.
Day 4: Create a mural using bottle caps
Children made use of green, blue and white bottle caps which they collected and brought to school to create a beautiful mural.
Day 5: Coming together as one!
Parents were invited to join the school to commemorate the week the children spent on saving the earth. Children got to show off the costumes they made with their parents in the fashion runway.
Parents joined their children in making art & craft using recycled materials and plant a seed.
Children ended off the week by enjoying citrus peel tea. The used the skin of the fruits to make a tea.
