In 2025, MK@Greendale embarked on a meaningful SSDB Community Garden Project under the theme “Together for Tomorrow, Empowering Young Hearts.” This project guided the children through a purposeful learning journey across three key stages: Planting, Harvesting, and Sharing.
The project was officially launched on 30 May 2025 with our K2 children. To begin, the children created “Labels of Love” using pebbles, decorating them with encouraging words and positive affirmations. These heartfelt messages were placed in the garden beds to bless the seeds they would soon plant.
Next, the children planted their chosen vegetable seeds — their “Seeds of Kindness” — symbolising care, responsibility, and hope for the future. The launch concluded with the children reciting the SSDB Pledge, expressing their commitment to harvesting compassion and sharing with love.
Over the following months, the children worked closely with the school gardeners during their outdoor learning programmes to nurture and care for the growing plants. Through hands-on experiences, they learned patience, teamwork, and the importance of caring for the environment.
In October, the children joyfully celebrated the completion of their project. Using the harvest from the garden, they packed curry leaves and pandan leaves together with handmade cards, and personally delivered them to staff around the school — spreading gratitude and kindness within the community.
The project concluded with a Celebration of Learning, where the children reflected on their journey and were proudly presented with certificates in recognition of their efforts and growth!
