Conservation of orangutans

In conjunction with the children’s learning about endangered animals and ways to help conserve them, a guest speaker was invited to share his experience visiting the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in Kuching, Sarawak. During his visit, he learned more about orangutans and became inspired to contribute to their conservation efforts. He spoke to the children about the orangutans’ movements, habitats, and diets, while also engaging them with thought-provoking questions to extend their understanding. The children, in turn, actively participated by asking their own questions to learn more about these fascinating animals and their environment. The children displayed appreciation by making a ‘Thank you card’ for him by putting their fingerprints to form the trees for the orangutans after recognizing how important trees are for orangutans. These fingerprints symbolized the children’s commitment to helping and conserving the orangutans.
