After spreading awareness through poster making, we wanted to organise a donation drive to help the small animals/pets in need. Working together with the National Parks Board (NParks), we decided to partner with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to raise funds for the animals in need.
“I hope we can help the animals at SPCA with our coaster! Are we making toys too?”
Children sit with focus and excitement, their hands moving gently as they decorate wooden coasters. Bits of color, patterns, and textures slowly come together, forming beautiful designs that shine with creativity. But these coasters are not just for art’s sake — they are being made with a purpose. Every piece created by the children is part of the donation drive to raise funds for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), an organization that protects and cares for animals in need.
As the children worked, there is a quiet sense of pride and purpose in the room. Some carefully arrange tiny decorations, while others think deeply about their design choices. Their small, steady hands move with intention — a reflection of their growing understanding that what they are making today will help make the world a little kinder.
After the children were done creating, they also shared about why they are doing it — about how the money raised can help feed, shelter, and protect animals who cannot speak for themselves. In their simple words and innocent ideas, there is a deep recognition of responsibility and compassion. Through this, they are learning that caring for animals extends beyond their classroom lessons; it is a way of showing love and respect for life itself.
Our younger children also lend a helping hand for the donation drive!🩷
Our Playgroup children also had a blast creating the coasters to show care for the pets in their little ways!🩷
The beauty of this initiative lies not only in the coasters themselves but in the meaningful process behind them. Each child’s effort, creativity, and intention come together as a symbol of generosity. The act of giving, even in small ways, shapes their understanding of community and kindness. When children are taught to care — to use their time and talents for others — they begin to see themselves as capable changemakers in the world.
As the donation drive continues, the completed coasters will soon be shared with the community, carrying with them the spirit of compassion and creativity. The children’s smiles and sense of accomplishment reflect a powerful lesson: that even small actions, when done with love, can make a meaningful impact. 🐶🐱🐰🩷
