ACRES Visit and Fundraising at PCF Sparkletots Blk 46 Marine Parade

As part of our centre’s SSDB (Start Small Dream Big) project: Cherishing Sea Animals, ACRES (Animal Concerns Research and Education Society) visited our centre on 29 July 2025 to talk to the children about sea animals that are extinct or in danger in Singapore. ACRES is a group in Singapore that helps protect animals and teaches people how to care for them.

The children learnt why it is important to take care of the sea and how they can help, like not throwing rubbish and using less plastic. They also learnt about the importance of recycling and how sorting their rubbish properly can help protect sea animals.

They showed enthusiasm during the talk. They were excited when learning how picking up rubbish can help keep the sea clean for the animals that live there. They shared how they want to start throwing their rubbish into the correct bins and help clean up their surroundings.

The children began to understand that the sea is a home for many animals, and it is important to keep it safe and clean.

Additionally, the children also learnt that many sea animals get trapped in rubbish like plastic bags and nets, which can hurt them or even cause them to die. They were sad to see pictures of turtles and fish stuck in trash, and it helped them understand how serious the problem is. This made them more eager to help by throwing rubbish into the right bins and reminding others to do the same.

The children also learnt that animals are not for entertainment and should not be used for shows or kept in small spaces just for people to watch. They were taught that animals have feelings too, they can feel scared, sad, or happy, just like us.

Overall, the ACRES talk was a meaningful and eye-opening experience for the children. It helped them understand the importance of caring for sea animals and protecting the environment. The session supported our SSDB project goals by encouraging the children to take small but thoughtful actions, like picking up litter, recycling, and showing kindness to animals. We are proud of how the children responded and the compassion they showed.

Together, we can continue to guide them in making a positive difference for the world around them.

On 6 August 2025, ACRES revisited our centre to raise funds to save the animals.

Through generous donations and the sale we did of ACRES merchandise, we were able to raise valuable funds to support their mission in rescuing, rehabilitating, and advocating for animals in need.

This achievement was made possible thanks to the kindness and support of everyone at the centre.

Together, we’re making a real difference for the voiceless.
