In this “Start Small Dream Big” project, the Nursery class are focused on the project of recycling, to understand how they can protect and save the earth with their own ability.
Kicking off the project, we started by reading a book about recycling and how it will be harmful to the animals if we litter everywhere. The storybook is called, “Captain Green and the Plastic Scene” by Evelyn Bookless. Through the book the children came to understand these points:
Animals does not know trash are not food. They will get choke and sick from the trash that are thrown on the floor and in the sea.
We can save the animals and the earth by using the 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
After the story reading, the children tried to identify the different recycling sign on the items they throw in the trash bin without recycling them. They came to know what kind of items can be recycled like plastic, paper, cardboard and mental cans.
