Prior to our visit to Fei Yue @ Hougang Dewcourt on 12 September 2024, Court on 12 September 2024, E-Bridge 670 Edgefield Plains organized a donation drive where we encouraged the school’s stakeholders to contribute essential items for the elderly. The donated items included oats, packet drinks, biscuits, rice, toilet rolls, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Together with our friends, we packed these items into goodie bags, ready to be distributed during our visit.
During the visit, we spent time playing interactive games with the elderly, such as parachute, fishing with beanbags, and passing ping pong balls using bowls. The elderly were fully engaged, laughing a lot throughout the activities. After the games, we handed out the goodie bags we had prepared, filled with essential items.
The session concluded with a heartwarming moment as we presented the artwork we had previously created together. The elderly were not only delighted but also proud of their artistic creations. This experience taught us the true meaning of volunteering—going beyond oneself to provide for others and making an effort to bring joy and support to those in need.
It was a meaningful and enriching opportunity, allowing us to connect with the elderly and understand the impact of small acts of kindness. We all enjoyed each other’s company, and this experience has inspired us to continue engaging in future volunteer activities.
