As we continue to our SSDB 2025, the children did a role play to be environmental heroes, they worked together to collect ‘garbage’ and clear the sea to protect marine animals. The children learnt about the importance of keeping our oceans clean and how small actions can help save the lives of sea creatures.
In this activity, the children explored animals and their natural habitats through the use of visual aids. Age-appropriate pictures were used to introduce various animals and the environments they inhabit. The children engaged in identifying animals, discussing where they live, and learning new vocabulary. This visual and interactive approach supported early science learning by encouraging observation skills, curiosity, and a basic understanding of animal habitats.
In addition, the children used various sea creature toys to create their imaginative scenarios and engaged in in conversations with their friends about how to protect the sea animals’ home.
The children watched a video about the effects of water pollution. Next, they did an activity to enhance their understanding of how dirty pollutants affect sea life.
The children also mimicked the trash by throwing paper, straw, and crepe paper into their mini ocean. They saw the effect of dumping waste as the sea animals were caught in the trash, and then they cleared the sea, too.
It was a fun experience for the children to embark on Start Small Dream Big Project 2025!
After the activity, the children promised not to throw any trash to the sea anymore.
