SSDB – Small Wonder Jurong East in collaboration with Go Green SG (Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment)
- SSDB Launch Party
We were so excited to start our SSDB “Go Green” journey with our parents! Together, we attended a short briefing to learn what the project was about. Then, we went around the Yuhua community to pick up litter! It was so much fun working together with our parents, helping to keep our neighbourhood clean and green.
Litter Picking
Every other Friday, we continued our litter-picking walks around the neighbourhood. We picked up rubbish and made sure our community stayed clean and beautiful. It made us feel proud to know that even though our hands are small, we can still make a big difference!
Water Sustainability
We learnt about how important it is to save water! We made colourful posters to remind everyone in school to use water wisely, and even created our own water filters to see how clean water is made. It was so fun experimenting and learning how to take care of one of our most precious resources water!
Upcycling Workshops
During our upcycling workshop, we learnt that “trash” can become treasure! We used recycled materials to make our own creative art pieces and were so proud to show them to our parents. We discovered that going green can be super fun and full of imagination!
Learning Journey
We went on an exciting trip to the Sustainable Singapore Gallery! There, we learnt about how Singapore is working towards a zero-waste future. We saw interesting exhibits and found out how everyone can help make our country cleaner and greener.
Sustainability Talk Around the Neighbourhood
We wanted to share what we learnt! We made colourful posters and pamphlets about sustainability and passed them around the neighbourhood. We even talked to food court vendors about saving energy and reducing waste. It was fun teaching others how small actions can help our planet!
Interviewing the Community
We became little reporters for a day! We went around the neighbourhood to ask people if they noticed any changes in cleanliness. Many of them said it looked cleaner — that made us really happy! We realised that our efforts were helping to make our community a better place.
SSDB Closure
To end our SSDB journey, we had a special SSDB Finale with our parents! We showed them all our projects, artwork, and performances about sustainability. We felt proud to share what we had learnt and how we helped our community. It was such a happy day — a big celebration of our teamwork and love for our planet!
