Respecting People in the Community

PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Ang Mo Kio – Hougang Blk 452 did the Start Small Dream Big project 2021. It’s about “Respecting People in the Community”. This project aims to help our young children from K1 and K2 to have a better understanding on how they can respect people in their community.

Children from K2 Adventurer and Globetrotter launched the Start Small Dream Big Project on 28 April 2021. Children were excited about the SSDB project. The children came up with the idea of packing the hampers to the elderly people in the nursing home.

Parents helped their children to pack their food hampers at home and made their own personal message on the hamper.

We collaborated with Thye Hua Kwan Nursing Home @ Hougang Avenue 8. On 24th of May 2021, we gave our first batch of food hampers to the nursing home and our second batch of food hampers donated by K1 and K2 children were given on the 25th of June 2021.

The children from K1 to K2 were glad to receive their SSDB kit. The children recorded what they had learnt from the project.

We conducted a Zoom Session with the elderly people on 30th of July 2021. We presented a video as how we came up with the project of helping the community. We also engaged them doing some chair exercises prepared by K2 children and a song and dance performance by K1 children. On the last part of the session, the children gave their wishes and hopes for the elderly people as well as the staffs who were taking care of them.

Showing kindness by giving a simple food hampers made the residents from the THK Nursing Home happy. The children also enjoyed the Zoom session and learnt that even though we are experiencing pandemic this time, they can still make small things possible by having this virtual session to show their love and care for the people in their community. They also learnt that “No one can do everything but everyone can do something.” Well done children!
