Our SSDB journey was launched on 23 May with a heartwarming Launch Party at the daycare centre. The children had a special opportunity to bond with the seniors at NTUC Health Senior Care- Toa Payoh (our SSDB partner) as they collected recyclable materials together- a meaningful start to our sustainability project for a mini-garden made possible through Preschool Market. The event was filled with joy as the children also engaged in a colouring activity and showcased their talents through a lively song and dance performance.
The recycled bottles collected during the launch were repurposed by our children with some parent volunteer, who used them to creatively design and decorate pots for the project.
Our SSDB journey centered on sustainability and intergenerational connection. Children will be engaged in nature-based activities such as creating a leaf collage using natural materials and participating in seed planting to foster responsibility and environmental awareness. For National Day celebration with the seniors, we will open the co-created and co-designed mini-garden at the daycare centre- a reflection of their collective learning and meaningful contributions.
This special journey has sparked wonderful friendships, and the children are excited to create more memories with the seniors in the sessions ahead.
