In line with World Book Day and Earth Day, children were engaged in fun-filled activities such as meaningful discussions of why we celebrate both events, storytelling of the storybook titled, “Elmer” by David Mckee and many more!
Prior to the event, children worked together as a class to create a banner for their classroom, using recycled materials such as used papers and newspapers.
After discussing about the characters and moral of the story, children moved on to create a 3D collage of Elmer and themselves in a jungle. Incorporating the idea of sustainability, the children reused recyclables such as old magazines, newspapers, cardboard and boxes to create their masterpieces!
Such sustainable activities actually allowed to children to have the opportunity to realise that they can care for their Earth through upcycling, which in this case, using recycled materials to recreate a collage of their own!
