E-Bridge Fernvale Link: SSDB 2025, Launch Party!

The K2 children of Fernvale Link Blk 417A are embarking on a meaningful SSDB (Start Small Dream Big) project with a focus on our beloved elderlies, whom we fondly refer to as ‘grandfriends’.

Grandfriends are important people in our society, and they have a huge impact on the younger generations of Singapore through the wisdom, care, and life experiences they share. Through this project, we aim to deepen children’s appreciation for the elderly by fostering intergenerational bonding and creating opportunities for them to connect, interact, and show gratitude.

The children will be engaged in various thoughtful and creative activities, such as crafting, doing donations, and collaborative experiences, to bring joy and companionship to our grandfriends. This project not only encourages empathy, respect, and kindness but also helps children understand the value of giving back to the community in small yet meaningful ways.

During our Launch Party on the 29th April, we had the wonderful opportunity to learn Taichi from Mr Tan. He patiently guided us through the movements and shared insightful explanations about the practice. Mr Tan spoke about the many benefits of Taichi, highlighting that it is not only beneficial for the elderly but also for young children. He emphasized how Taichi encourages us to approach life in a slow, steady, and calm manner, helping to nurture both physical well-being and a peaceful state of mind. His sharing left a meaningful impression on both the children and teachers, setting a reflective and purposeful tone for our SSDB journey.

As part of our pre-visit preparations for the excursion to Grace Lodge, we will introduce the children to the concept of “Grandfriends” and help them understand what a nursing home is. Through storybooks and photos, we aim to familiarize them with elderly individuals and promote a positive view of aging. Discussions will focus on building empathy, kindness, and respect, helping children learn how to be thoughtful and courteous guests.
