Learning about the six simple machines, the children created a pulley with recycled materials. With their peers, they discussed and negotiated on what materials to use, experimented with their pulley in pulling up cube counters, evaluate their pulley and reflect on how they can make some improvements or adjustments to their pulley. At the end of the activity, the children also counted the number of cube counters their pulley can carry by counting in 2s and wrote about their experiences with inventive spelling. Overall, the children had a lot of fun by engaging in a trial-and-error experience in creating a pulley with recycled materials!
