Agape Little Uni @ Clementi - SSDB Journey 2020

We are so elated and excited to be part of SSDB once again this year!! Our school enjoys the whole journey of SSDB throughout these past years where children are able to give back to the society in their smallest way. Therefore this year we have decided to embark on another beautiful SSDB journey.

We started off by sharing with children what is SSDB and what this whole project is about. Children had many interesting ideas about SSDB.

“SSDB is when we donate money or give reusable/recycled items for needy people” - Jarius. “We can make crafts to sell and collect the money to give to the organisation that we are working with.” - Celina

Children were shown the “SSDB 2020 launch video” and we did a mind-map on the organisations we can work with this year.

“How about we work together with people with special needs just like last year? As we focused only on Down syndrome how about this year we focus on another type of special needs?” - Ella Tan “Or maybe we can work with animals? As everyone is affected by Covid-19 , animals are finally coming out during this lockdown and are free. So we can take this chance to learn more about saving these endangered and wildlife animals.” - Jing En

“Since we are going through Covid-19 how about we work together with our healthcare and essential workers and show our appreciation for all that they are doing?” - Hong Yang

After much discussion we narrowed down the organisations and people we can help during this current pandemic. Example like healthcare heroes, essential workers, migrant workers and elderly/needy. We finally decided to focus on our migrant workers in Singapore and help them as they are alone in Singapore working hard to provide the best for all of us.

As such, we will be working with TWC2 in our SSDB journey and to donate essential items like groceries as well as monetary donations for our migrant workers in Singapore.

“I think we can focus on migrant workers as they are away from their families for a very long time and some of them are the only ones working in their family. We need to really help them!” - Avril.

We started off by sending out a letter to parents to bring in essential items like toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, coffee and Milo packets and but not limited to biscuits. We also shared with parents that we will be having an online fund raising bazaar where children will be creating crafts for sales through our school’s Instagram page. We will be doing live sales as well whereby children will be promoting their sales through the Instagram page.

“I brought some toothbrush for our migrant workers!” - Kaden “I brought lots of biscuits so that the migrant workers can share with each other!” - Charlotte

We will be updating again on our progress of our SSDB journey in time to come! Looking forward to our preparation to our online fund raising bazaar as well as live sales day! Hang in tight & check back soon on our SSDB journey!
