As part of our exploration of local hawker foods, the children were introduced to Indian and Eurasian cuisine. They learned about the rich variety of dishes commonly found at hawker centres.
To make the experience more hands-on, the children made their own prata using clay, shaping and flattening the dough just like how prata is prepared. They also baked small potatoes, representing a staple ingredient in many Eurasian dishes. Through this activity, they explored different textures, food shapes, and the cultural significance of these local favourites.
The children enjoyed pretending to “cook” and serve food, strengthening their fine motor skills and building awareness of cultural diversity through food.
