Start Small Dream Big Finale: “Our Community and Me”

In line with our this year’s Start Small Dream Big Project Titled “Community and Me” one of our aims is to collaborate with the different community partners in our neighbourhood by showing care and appreciation to them. We had a Centre-wide SSDB finale on Thursday, 22nd September 2022. Here are some exciting things that we did leading up to the finale and the finale itself!

Firstly, we initiated a donation drive in the Centre where parents donated various kinds of goods to be donated to the Senior care. Additionally, they also contributed health and hygiene products like, face masks, sanitisers, and vitamin C pastilles to be packed into care packs for community helpers at Toa Payoh Lorong 8. We are thankful to all the parents who generously gave donations to support our donation drive for this SSDB project.

On our finale day, we had a zoom engagement session with the elderly at Care Corner Social Day Care for the Elderly @ Blk 235 where teachers pre-recorded children’s performances to be played via zoom, along with an exercise session with the elderly.

Our K2 children went to the Senior care in the afternoon to play different traditional games with the seniors and handed over the goods donated by the parents and children.

Our K1 children had the opportunity to visit the Toa Payoh Polyclinic to hand the care packages that we all prepared for them to show appreciation to all the health care workers.

Our N2 children went to the nearby police station, hawker centres and neighbourhood to give away their care packages.

All the children in the centre from Infant up to Kindergarten 2 contributed in designing the kindness bags we used for our care packs. Each one of them created an appreciation card to all the elderly, health workers, police officers, cleaners and those working at the hawker centres. Our N2 to K2 children helped in packing the goods.
