As part of the Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project - “Health and Safety First: Caring for Ourselves and Others,” the Nursery, K1, and K2 children embarked on a meaningful learning journey to understand the importance of safety, empathy, and helping those in need.
On 21 April, the children were introduced to the project through an exciting storytelling and dramatisation session. The teacher told a lively story about friends who helped each other during a minor accident. With great enthusiasm, the children acted out different parts of the story—some pretended to be the helpers, while others took on the roles of those in need of care. Through imagination and play, they discovered the importance of being kind, helpful, and responsible.
This session served as a powerful introduction to the project, building the children’s creativity, listening skills, and confidence in expressing ideas, while also reinforcing the values of empathy and teamwork.
On 23 April, the centre was thrilled to host a police talk by real-life community heroes. The police officers spoke to the Nursery, K1, and K2 children about their role in keeping people safe. They shared what to do during emergencies and how children can take simple steps to stay safe. The children listened attentively, asked thoughtful questions, and were especially excited to see parts of the police uniform up close.
The police talk helped the children better understand how community helpers contribute to our safety and inspired them to think about how they, too, can help care for others.
These two meaningful events marked the beginning of our SSDB journey—fostering awareness, responsibility, and the spirit of helping hands and caring hearts in every child.
Stay tuned for more updates as our children continue their journey in this ongoing SSDB project!
