The Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project is an initiative organized by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), in conjunction with the President’s Challenge. This year, Enfant’s K2 children join over 77,000 children to participate in meaningful projects reaching out to families and the community.
With globalisation on the rise, we more commonly see and meet people from varying backgrounds, in the form of differing races, languages, religions, socio-economic status etc. Hence, what better way to inculcate lifelong values such as respect and empathy, than through this community project.
Beginning with our launch party, the children had a blast learning about different ways we can embrace diversity. Through storytelling and engaging in a music and movement activity, the class experienced what it was like to take on the role of the helper and the recipient. The children were able to experience a small gimpse of embracing diversity, in these simple 4 ways: WEAR (Welcome, Enjoy, Accept, Respect).
Over the next few months, in collaboration with KidSTART, the children will be participating in activities such as a fundraising charity art auction and befriending sessions with our friends from lower income households.
We look forward to the next 6 months of intentional learning and discovery through this SSDB project.
Do look out for subsequent posts on our SSDB project!
