As part of our Little Community Protectors journey, our children took part in a meaningful parent-child activity called “My Recyclable Treasure.”
With the help of their parents, each child brought one recyclable item from home to school. Before bringing it in, families had wonderful discussions together about:
✨ What material the item is made of (paper, plastic, metal, etc.)
✨ Why it can be recycled
✨ What happens to it in their home’s recycling process
During class, our children proudly shared their “treasures.” They showed their item, explained where it came from, and thoughtfully decided which recycling bin it belonged to. From empty cereal boxes to plastic bottles and tin cans, the children were excited to talk about how their simple household items could be given a new life through recycling.
Through this activity, children not only learnt about the importance of recycling but also built stronger connections with their parents by having meaningful conversations at home. It was heartwarming to see them share their knowledge with confidence and joy in front of their peers.
Most importantly, the activity reminded us that caring for our community begins with small everyday choices—like sorting our recyclables the right way. With the support of our parents, our Little Community Protectors are growing into responsible and environmentally-aware individuals. 🌍💚
