As part of our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) journey, the children took part in our final initiative for the year — a Donation Drive for Melrose Care (Children’s Aid Society), held in celebration of Children’s Day. This meaningful project aimed to inspire our children to show empathy and compassion by giving back to others in need.
In the weeks leading up to the event, children learned about the importance of caring for others and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. They helped prepare donation boxes and created thoughtful handmade cards filled with kind words and colourful drawings to accompany the items collected.
Families were invited to join in by contributing essential items. The overwhelming response from parents and children truly reflected the strong home–school partnership and our shared value of community spirit.
Through this initiative, the children experienced the joy of giving and understood that everyone, no matter how small, has the power to make a positive change. The Donation Drive served as a meaningful conclusion to our SSDB journey this year, reminding us that kindness begins with each of us — and that even the smallest hands can make the biggest hearts.
As we wrapped up our Start Small Dream Big projects for the year, we celebrated not only Children’s Day, but also the children’s growth in empathy, teamwork, and generosity.
