Wonder’s of Animal Kingdom SSDB Project
Our SSDB project, named “Wonder’s of Animal Kingdom,” focuses on the important topic of conserving nature and its animals. Our goal is to introduce children to the importance of preserving wildlife and to inspire them to take action to protect animals.
The project was launched on May 9th, 2022, with a group of enthusiastic preschoolers. During our initial session, we focused on introducing the concept of endangered and extinct animals, aiming to spark curiosity and concern among our children.
This discussion served as an excellent introduction to our project, allowing the children to express their thoughts and feelings about the situation. It helped them develop a deeper understanding of the importance of animals in our ecosystem and the role they play in maintaining the balance of nature.
Moving forward, our project will continue to engage the children in various activities, workshops, and projects related to the conservation of animals and the environment. By providing them with hands-on experiences and learning opportunities, we aim to instill a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
Together, let’s embark on this journey of discovery and understanding, as we explore the wonders of the Animal Kingdom and learn to protect and preserve it for future generations.
NURSERY 2
The children were encouraged to set up their own recycling station and bring materials from home. This activity aimed to ignite their curiosity and interest in recycling. It was later connected to the ways recycling benefits the environment, helping to save animals and the planet.
The next activity focused on the children’s understanding of the endangered orangutan species. After a class discussion, they were eager to save paper to reduce waste and prevent tree cutting. The children recognized that paper comes from trees and that orangutans live in trees. Thus, using more paper would harm the orangutans. The class decided to recycle old paper from scratch and create posters to advocate for the orangutans.
KINDERGARTEN 1
Children are actively exploring the SSDB Project on Animal Conservation. They participated in small group discussions and shared their ideas and thoughts on endangered animals.
Children are engaged in writing and drawing about endangered animals, focusing on the ‘Malayan Tiger’ for our SSDB Project.
Children are creating a poster of the Malayan Tiger using finger painting.
We made Tiger mask!
Kindergarten 1 children concentrated on a specific endangered species: the Malayan tiger. They explored various aspects of the tiger’s life and learned about its critically endangered status. As part of their SSDB project on endangered animals, they created an awareness video to share their newfound knowledge and raise awareness about these magnificent creatures.
KINDERGARTEN 2
The K2 children were introduced to efforts of panda conservation! They have learnt about nature of the giant panda, how the pandas were used to be an endangered species and is now categorised under the ‘vulnerable’ group. Children has gained awareness of reasons that may cause the pandas to the endangered. Children have made a panda habitat using recycled materials!
The children have gained knowledge on shark conservation too! They have learnt that there are various factors that affects the shark population. Children attempted to draw a picture of shark together and noted down ways that we can do to protect sharks.
Children drew pictures of sea creatures and created sea habitats!
