On 28 October 2025, we held our SSDB Finale cum OWP Celebration at Al-Muttaqin Mosque MPH. Our MEC, parents, grandparents, and the Community Development Team joined us to conclude our SSDB journey with the children.
The project began with a home parental involvement activity, where children made a poster on the activities that they can do with their grandparents, and shared their experiences through show-and-tell. We then collaborated with Santunan Emas seniors for a simple exercise session, during which the children presented door hangers decorated with heartfelt messages.
Grandparents were later invited to school for a breakfast/lunch cum Planting Day, where they received handwritten thank-you cards and seeds from NParks. Two weeks later, the children visited Muhajirin Mosque to create craft pieces with senior mosque volunteers. The children also took the opportunity to donate the money they had brought by placing it into the mosque’s donation box. The completed crafts, along with a message bookmark, were later given to the volunteers as tokens of appreciation.
During the finale, parents and grandparents celebrated with the children. We also recognised Ms. Nurul as part of the Our Wonderful Parents celebration. The children performed a dance to the official SSDB song, and the MEC presented certificates to acknowledge their effort throughout the project. A video montage of the SSDB journey and a short interview with the children on their thoughts about the SSDB project were screened.
We hope that families enjoyed the celebration as much as the children did. Through this SSDB project, we believe the children gained meaningful experiences, learning values such as gratitude, kindness, empathy, and giving back to the community. Every activity was thoughtfully planned and curated to create opportunities for the children to strengthen bonds with their families and build meaningful intergenerational connections with grandparents and seniors in the community. As we conclude our journey, we embrace the SSDB motto: “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.” We look forward to more meaningful partnerships and continued support as we nurture caring hearts and confident learners.
