The K1 and K2 children were introduced to Families For Life through the character Becky Bunny. The children were introduced to the song, “I Value My Family” by Families For Life and engaged in singing and moving along to the actions of the song.
The children were then introduced to Becky Bunny and her 4 family values. Love, Care and Concern, Commitment and Respect. The children engaged in a class discussion about the various family values and how they can display each value at home. They also engaged in a word unscramble in groups and worked together to decode the various phrases that they can use to show each value at home.
The children then drew out their families in a Becky Bunny picture frame to further show love and care for them. The K2 children also took it a step further and wrote letters to their family members behind thier frames to express their love and appreciation for them.
The K1 and K2 children then embarked on an excursion to the National Gallery to further learn about the 4 Family Values and Becky Bunny through various local art pieces. The children explored the artwork through song, dance and role-play. The children also had the opportunity to visit the “I Value My Family” song once more at the end and all the children had a blast!
