The children continued their SSDB journey with the next Family Value of Respect. In the next 3 lessons, the children were able to learn more about the meaning of respect through the story of Becky Bunny and the Treasure Chest. The children were also able to engage in role plays to share how they would respond respectfully in each scenario and singing and dancing to the, “ I Respect My Family” Song.
The children then created various artworks to show their understanding about respect throughout the various lessons. In the first craft, the children brainstormed on how they can show respect to others and came together to create their own class book of respect.
In the next craft, the K1 and K2 children created their own pebble magnet just like Becky and her family did in the story. The children let their creativity run wild and made pebble magnets with elements that reminded them of respect and its meaning to them.
For the final activity, the children took guidance from the story of Becky Bunny and the Treasure Chest and made their own homemade glue using flour and hot water. The children really enjoyed seeing how the glue came together and using it to stick pieces of paper together and were able to realise that being respectful is what holds us together just like glue!
