'No Waste, More Grace' Agape Little Uni. @ Clementi - Door Knock Project

To embody Start Small, Dream Big’s theme on love and kindness, our SSDB Project for the year culminated in a collaboration with the teachers, parents and children of Agape Little Uni. @ Clementi to take a step further in getting themselves, and their children deeply involved with their own social responsibilities.

Through the enthusiastic support and generosity from the parents and children and our Charity Bazaar, Agape Little Uni. @ Clementi has managed to raise 150 bags of groceries for the beneficiaries this year for the ‘Door Knock Project’ in collaboration with Project Goodwill Aid.

About Project Goodwill Aid and Door Knock Project: Founded by Ms Siti Nurani Salim and like-minded volunteers in 2013, Project Goodwill Aid (PGA) aims to reach out to people in need and to assist them in being independent, in hopes that they will be motivated and be able to in turn, contribute and help others in need. Door Knock Project is one of the many intiatives by PGA, as a regular home visit to distribute groceries and essential food items to those in extreme need.

On 26 August 2017, children and parents from Agape Little Uni. @ Clementi worked side by side with the volunteers from Project Goodwill Aid to get ready the groceries for ‘Door Knock Project’ at Boon Lay Drive.

The children experienced packing the groceries provided by their parents, and went door to door to visit and hand out the groceries personally to the beneficiaries identified by Project Goodwill Aid for the distribution.

With the groceries in hand, children, parents and volunteers from Project Goodwill Aid went door to door to distribute the essential groceries to those in need.

Parent comments: It was great to be physically involved as a family together. There were a lot of teaching moments that we shared with the kids, even when shopping together for the items and after the event, such as loving others, caring for the less privileged, not wasting food etc.

Parent comments: In this way, children really do something and put effort into it, and they will find themselces having the ability to bring happiness to others.

Through this collaboration, children had a first hand experience on how simple gestures like a kind smile, and a timely delivery of essential groceries can help to lighten another persons load. They learn that kindness comes from the heart, and everyone, including themselves, can embody a spirit of love and kindness to bring joy and happiness to another person’s live.
