On Tuesday, 10th June 2025, the N2 children at Skool4Kidz @ Woodlands Crescent Meadows took part in a meaningful art activity titled My Family Painting. This activity supported our SSDB 2025 theme by encouraging children to reflect on their families while expressing themselves through art. The goal was for children to represent their family members using basic art elements such as shapes and lines.
The session began with a class discussion about family and the people living in each child’s household. The N2 children were then guided to draw their family portraits using simple lines and shapes. They were encouraged to think about each member and what makes them special.
Next, they used watercolour paints to bring their drawings to life, carefully choosing colours for features such as clothing, hair, and backgrounds. Once dry, the children outlined their artwork using black markers, making their family portraits bold and expressive. This hands-on process helped develop their fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and creativity.
Throughout the activity, the N2 children showed inventiveness by using the different art materials creatively and thoughtfully. Each artwork reflected their own understanding and appreciation of family, showing unique details and personal touches.
The completed paintings will be displayed as part of our SSDB 2025 project journey, highlighting the children’s learning and their growing sense of connection and gratitude towards their families.
