Meet the FAST Heroes – Learning to Help Our Grandparents

As part of our ongoing SSDB 2025 journey to promote love and care for our families, the N2 children at Skool4Kidz @ Woodlands Crescent Meadows participated in a meaningful health education session titled Meet the FAST Heroes. This activity aimed to teach children how to recognise the basic signs of a stroke and how they can care for their grandparents, especially when someone is feeling unwell and needs help.

The session began with a storytelling circle, where children were introduced to the FAST Heroes: Frank, who helps us look for facial drooping; Arman, who checks if arms can be lifted; Sophia, who listens for unclear speech; Timmy, who reminds us to dial 995 for help; and Tanya, who teaches us how to comfort and assist others.

After learning about each hero and how they help in emergencies, the children were invited to draw themselves alongside their personal heroes – their grandparents. They illustrated special moments or ways they care for their grandparents, and proudly shared their artwork and thoughts with peers. This creative task gave them a chance to reflect on their own roles as caring and helpful family members.

The session ended with a reflection circle, where children shared how they could help their grandparents if they noticed something was wrong, and what comforting words or actions they might use. The children displayed curiosity, appreciation, and a deepening sense of empathy and responsibility.

This activity strengthened their understanding of health awareness and reinforced the SSDB values of care, love, and taking action, all while honouring the special role grandparents play in their lives.
