We placed the materials layer by layer each time.
First, we place the big gravel between the botte opening.
Then, smaller gravel was placed.
Third, we poured in the sand.
For the last layer, we add in the soil.
Lastly, we put in the little plant.
Through this approach, water filtration is shown via different types of materials with different properties. We learnt more about the functions of a rain garden and how different layers of natural materials play a different role to clean rainwater and surface runoff.
It also gives us an opportunity to find out how the natural cleansing properties of plants in rain gardens and how water and nature affects one another.
