Heritage Hands in Bloom @AMK08

Following a successful launch of our SSDB project “Heritage Hands, Together We Stand”, My First Skool @ AMK08 hosted the elderly from Allkin for a meaningful morning of shared activities. This session focused on encouraging intergenerational bonding, collaboration, and mutual respect through purposeful hands-on experiences.

Elderly from Allkin visited our centre and were greeted by an enthusiastic group of children. For an entire morning, the elderly and children worked side by side to plant mint seeds in repurposed eggshells. They decorated the eggshells together and added their own touches of creativity and care. There were a lot of chatter and laughter as they worked together as a team. It was a simple yet meaningful way to promote environmental awareness, understanding, and shared pride in creating something with a lasting value.

To close the session, the children performed a dance and warmly invited our elderly to join in. It was heartwarming to hear the old folks tease the children aloud, as children opened up to hold their hands and lead them on. The activity promoted a sense of physical closeness and breed familiarity in a relaxed setting. Most importantly, it reflected the values we aim to instill —respect and community spirit across generations.

Through activities like these, Heritage Hands, Together We Stand gives children and seniors the chance to learn with and from each other. It’s about building real relationships through small, purposeful moments that leave a lasting impact.
