Helping the community in our little ways

Support for elderly and caregivers, is an essential part of the community response to the pandemic.

During this period, physical social visit is limited as elderly are at higher risk for COVID-19 and all of us need to adhere to ‘Heightened Alert’ order to prevent further community spread of the virus.

Thus, together with all our parents, children, teachers and staff of Queenstown Good Shepherd Kindergarten, we prepared 400 goodie bags and 3 hampers to cheer our elderly and bless all medical workers and staff of St. Andrew’s Nursing Home (Henderson) during this tough times.

All these loved items were brainstormed by our children ….

Each goodie bag contained a fruit, 2 sachets of beverages, a packet of biscuits and a pack of masks.

A personal handwritten note was created by our K2 children on each goodie bag.

Tough time calls for stronger compassion. With a strength of about 100 children and staff from Queenstown Good Shepherd Kindergarten, we managed to pack 400 packs of goodie bags and 3 hampers, many thanks to all our generous parents who contributed more than requested.

Children were keen and demonstrated interest in packing …..

Indeed, we never know …. Children as young as 18 months can do their part to bless and help the community in one way or the other. Hence, this simple gesture or initiative from ‘ Start Small Dream Big’ can embark a very meaningful and impactful journey to all our young minds.

After our children had finished packing the goodie bags, our teachers and staff checked each individual bag items, sealed them and packed them into carton boxes.

With the help from our church staff, we delivered all the goodie bags and hampers to St. Andrew’s Nursing Home (Henderson) by van.
