Growing Together, Creating Tomorrow: From Curious Minds to Young Inventors!

Over the past few months, our children from Infant to K2 embarked on a meaningful journey of discovery, innovation, and togetherness through our SSDB 2025 project.

From learning about family roles, to navigating with Bee-Bot, to inventing helpful machines with recycled materials, every moment was filled with curiosity and purpose. This project gave the children opportunities to work with friends, connect with the community, and most of all, contribute ideas that shape a better tomorrow.

Our families joined us in making this journey memorable, and our community partners—Care Corner, Children’s Museum Singapore, and Kindsville—added even more warmth and meaning. Let’s take a look back at some highlights! Which way should Bee-Bot go?

Our children were introduced to Bee-Bot, learning to code simple commands while collaborating with their peers.

Let’s take a closer look at the wonderful learning moments from our Early Years children! Bee-Bot and My Family

Our Early Years children explored and learnt about their families through matching photographs.

More games with Bee-Bot! Children learnt to recognise their family members with Bee-Bot.

With Bee-Bot’s help, they recognised family members and navigated to objects linked to their roles.

They also enjoyed an art and craft activity- creating paper bag puppets of their family members and decorated with objects related to each person’s role.

Then they programmed Bee-Bot to deliver these items to their family members.

Bee-Bot and Our Local Food

Collaborating with parents, the children learnt about their families’ favourite food through photos shared from home. They were also introduced to some of Singapore’s iconic dishes and had the chance to explore key ingredients found in our local cuisine, such as rice and flour.

Children used the Bee-Bot to deliver the local food to their family members!

Bee-Bot and Kindness

Children practiced simple acts of kindness, such as hugging, offering a drink, and helping a peer wipe their mouth.

They then chose a kindness mission and programmed Bee-Bot to carry it out, such as cleaning the house or preparing a meal.

Last but not least, our children created their own Kindness mat by connecting their family photos to the heart using Bee-Bot.

Kindsville Kindness Mission

To mark the end of our SSDB journey for Early Years children, they visited Kindsville for a special kindness mission, partnering with Kidztropic to strengthen family bonding. Children and their families joined the ‘Little Ones, Big Feelings’ workshop at Kidztropic Cove, where they had a blast creating soft clay artworks, exploring their emotions, and practicing acts of kindness with their peers and families. They also enjoyed playing and laughing together in the play area. Through these hands-on experiences, the children learnt how simple acts, like helping a friend, taking turns, or sharing a smile, could make a big difference, making it a heartwarming way to wrap up the project.

Now, let’s zoom in on the amazing work created by our N2, K1, and K2 children!

Tea with Dads!

Partnering with Centre for Fathering, the Tea with Dads session brought children and their fathers closer together through shared activities, heartfelt conversations, and joyful moments of bonding.

Bridging Generations

Laughter and chatter filled the room as our K2 children joined hands with the seniors to explore a special quiz mat designed by our K1 and N2 children. Together, they navigated challenges, shared ideas, and discovered that learning is even more joyful when generations come together.

Children interacted with Bee-Bot, incorporating different learning elements, including Chinese, festivals, occupations, local food, and places in a community.

From Ideas to Inventions

After learning about the community, the children began their invention journey! Identifying problems

N2 focused on challenges faced by community helpers, K1 explored issues in hawker centres, and K2 examined problems in the wider community.

Researching

They gathered more information by interviewing people around the neighbourhood and within the school to better understand the problems they had identified.

A visit to the Children’s Museum Singapore further deepened their understanding and sparked new ideas for possible solutions.

Brainstorming

The children came up with creative solutions to address the problems they had identified.

Designing

They sketched out their ideas, turning concepts into visual plans.

Building and Testing Prototypes

Using recycled and craft materials, they brought their designs to life. They tried out their inventions with peers, gathering feedback to make improvements.

Finally, here are our inventions! Taa-daa!

Mission complete!

As we conclude our SSDB 2025 project, we’re proud of how far the children have come—from understanding the world around them to dreaming up ways to make it better. We hope this experience inspires them to stay curious, think boldly, and work together to create a kind and creative tomorrow.

A heartfelt thank you to all our families and community partners for being an essential part of this journey!
