Glass Painting with the Elderly

Art is as Natural as Sunshine and as Vital as Nourishment.

On 21st July, the K1 and K2 children visited the elderly at COMNET Senior Services to conduct a glass painting activity. It is a known fact that people of all ages and diverse walks of life enjoy Arts so much simply because it allows us to express our thoughts and feelings not only that but also escalates our confidence as we find an expressive outlet through arts.

Glass painting is a lot of fun. In our interest to make children and elderly enjoy Arts as well as provide them with the opportunity to develop their artistry, the teachers organised a glass painting activity.

The elderly were provided with glasses that already have an existing outline. Some were in the form of flowers while others were animal figures. Children were tasked to help out an elderly in decorating and painting the glass using cotton buds and acrylic paints.

It was indeed an astonishing moment as children and elderly get to bond with each other. They crafted their artwork with beaming smiles and high spirits. As soon as they finished painting, they allowed the paint to dry and set thorougly on the glass creating a delightful design. They showcased their work of art with pride and joy.

The glassess were given to the elderly to serve as a memento for their creativity and love for arts. The glasses they painted will surely serve a lot of purposes, it could decorate wall arts or become chic vases but what’s more heartwarming is it could be a memory which contains special moments echoing millions of feelings and thousands of thoughts.
