Ocenarium: SSDB Partnership with Sentosa (PCF Sparkletots Blk 46 Marine Parade)

Our centre visited the Oceanarium as part of our SSDB partnership, where the children had the opportunity to learn more about marine life and the importance of protecting the ocean. During the visit, we participated in an engaging talk titled “A Plastic Tale,” which highlighted the harmful effects of plastic waste on sea animals.

This experience encouraged the children to reflect on how they can care for the environment and inspired them to take small steps to protect sea creatures and their habitats.

Children also learnt about the dangers that plastic bags, rubbish, paper, and other waste pose to marine animals. They enjoyed the walk through the Oceanarium and were fascinated by the beauty of the sea creatures. It was a meaningful and memorable learning experience for all.

Overall, the journey to the Oceanarium was both fun and educational, giving children the opportunity to appreciate the wonders of sea creatures.

They participated in a guided tour and listened to an engaging talk on how to save and protect marine life.

The tour guides, also called “captains,” shared a story that captured the children’s attention.

Back at the centre, the children reflected on their Oceanarium visit by expressing their learning through drawing and writing. They created pictures of the sea animals they had seen and wrote about why it is important to keep the ocean clean. Many shared ideas on how to protect marine life such as using less plastic and throwing rubbish in the bin.

It is indeed a meaningful part of our SSDB project as it gave the children a real-life experience to connect with what they were learning about caring for the environment.

Seeing the marine animals up close and attending the talk “A Plastic Tale” helped the children understand the impact of human actions on sea life in a more concrete way.
