On Friday, 27th June 2025, the K2 children at Skool4Kidz @ Woodlands Crescent Meadows participated in a fun and meaningful Fruity Friday celebration. As part of our SSDB 2025 project, this event focused on teaching children how to make simple and nutritious snacks that they can prepare together with their family members.
The highlight of the day was a fruit snack preparation activity, where the children learned how to make easy and healthy snacks using fresh fruits such as apples, bananas, kiwi, grapes, oranges, and strawberries. With support and guidance, they cut soft fruits, arranged them creatively on skewers or in cups, and added wholesome toppings like cereal or yogurt to complete their snack.
Through this hands-on process, the children practised fine motor skills, self-help abilities, and decision-making, all while exploring how healthy snacks can be both fun to make and enjoyable to eat. The experience also encouraged children to think about how they could recreate these snacks with their family at home.
To end the activity, the children took part in a reflection circle, sharing their favourite fruits and what they would like to prepare for their siblings or parents. Many expressed excitement about becoming little helpers in the kitchen and showed pride in their creations.
Fruity Friday not only deepened their understanding of healthy food choices, but also empowered the children with practical skills they can use to bond with their loved ones at home—an important part of our SSDB 2025 journey.
