FAST Heroes: Protecting Our Grandparents with Love

As part of our SSDB project focus on the elderly, our children embarked on the FAST Heroes journey — learning how to recognise the signs of stroke and act quickly to save lives. With bright capes and eager hearts, they discovered that heroes don’t always wear costumes — sometimes they are small children with big love for their grandparents.

Through songs, stories, and interactive games, the children practiced the FAST steps:

Face – Is one side drooping?

Arms – Can both arms be raised?

Speech – Is speech slurred?

Time – Call 995 right away!

These lessons were more than just fun activities — they empowered children to feel capable of protecting their loved ones, especially the elderly who may be more at risk. By bringing home their learning, the children also became messengers of care, reminding their families that acting FAST can save lives.

Intergenerational relationships play a vital role in building a caring community. Children bring energy, curiosity, and joy into the lives of the elderly, while seniors offer wisdom, patience, and life experiences that shape young minds. When children learn to care for and support the elderly, they grow up with values of empathy and respect, while the elderly, in turn, feel a sense of connection, belonging, and dignity. These meaningful interactions not only strengthen bonds across generations but also remind us that caring for one another — young and old — creates a more compassionate and resilient society.

Through this experience, children gained not only knowledge but also a deeper sense of responsibility, empathy, and love for the elderly in their lives. They are growing up to understand that caring for our grandparents and seniors is a powerful way to honour and respect them.

❤️ Our little FAST Heroes are now ready to spread awareness — because protecting the elderly is truly a heroic act.
