Eshkol Valley @PPCC SSDB 2025 "Let's Celebrate SG60 Together!" Story #2

On August 8, 2025, we held an art and craft exhibition in school titled “ Majulah Singapura” in conjunction with our nation’s 60th birthday celebration.

On that joyous occasion, our children invited their family members and friends to school to view their fantastic artwork which were largely inspired by a school talk on Singapore’s contemporary art pieces by some local artists - Han Sai Por, Zul Mamod and David Chan, presentated by two staff from the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) a couple of months ago.

As part of their SSDB project on community service, our children hoped to use this event to raise funds for the REACH E-Flag 2025: Walk with Me” Virtual Tin event organized by the REACH Community Services via the national platform giving.sg.

Some of their inspired artwork were :

  1. The River that Brings Us Life inspired by David Chan’s masterpiece titled Utama Cat, 2015

Our children used recycled materials to create the scenic view of the Singapore River against the backdrop of the Marina Bay Sands.

  1. Colours of the Singapore Tree inspired by Han Sai Por’s masterpiece titled Black Forest, 2016

Our K2 children decided to do a “rainbow” tree after learning about the work of Han Sai Por- one of our local contemporary artists. They brought back some branches from the front of the church and gave them a new lease of life with a fresh coat of acrylic paint.

Our little ones from the playgroup and nursery levels also chipped in their efforts with their well-painted pebbles which gave a special vibrant effect to the ”rainbow” tree created by K2.

  1. HDB Flats inspired by Zul Mahmod’s masterpiece titled Raising Spirits and Restoring Souls, 2015

HDB Flats are recognised as a national icon representing Singapore’s success in providing affordable homes to its people. They form an integral part of Singapore’s landscape and national identity.

Our K1 children used everyday items commonly found in households such as toilet rolls, newspapers and Lego blocks to create their HDB landscape art.

  1. The Breakfast Table inspired also by  Zul Mahmod’s Raising Spirits and Restoring Souls, 2015

The Breakfast Table is a sound art intriguingly designed by our little ones from the playgroup and nursery levels. They used their favourite Yakult bottles and milk cartons to play the “Happy Birthday” song in celebration of our nation’s 60th national day.

Aside from viewing their children’s artwork, the parents also had great fun joining in the national day Sing-a-long session and play games with their children.

Happy 60th Birthday, Singapore, Cheers!
