In our final story for the year, we had the opportunity to collaborate with parents who had been supporting us in nurturing and supporting the children through play, saving the environment and appreciate the grandparents.
Event 1 - Having fun at Games Day
Khalsa kindergarten had a fun filled Games Day on 29th May 2025. Teachers from all 3 levels of Nursery. K1 and K2 planned appropriate games for the respective levels of Nursery, K1 and K2,
For each level, parents were invited to volunteer for the event. The turnout for parents to volunteer were overwhelming. With the presence of parents, children were motivated to participate in the games with great enthusiasm.
Parents divided the workload among themselves such as helping teachers in setting up the Games Booths, taking photos of children in participating in the games and guiding children in playing the games. Across the levels, parents were very involved in guiding the children and helping teachers alike.
Parents involvement for the Games Day were much appreciated by the principal and teaches alike. Khalsa Kindergarten’s teaching committee will be involving the parents in the school’s upcoming events.
Event 2 - Go Green SG Little Heroes
As part of the Go Green SG initiative, Khalsa Kindergarten took the opportunity to partner with the Preschool Market for the event ‘Go Green SG Little Heroes’ on 8th July at Siloso Beach. This event was catered for K2 children and an invitation was sent to the parents to tag along with their child.
Children who attended the meaningful environmental education was given the opportunity to learn about the marine life and the impact of pollution through real- world observation.
The children were also engaged in waste classification activities such as recycled papers which children tore in pieces. After tearing the pieces of recycled papers, children soaked the papers in water and planted the seeds in the soaked papers and made it into a ball. The seeds which the children planted in the recycled paper were given to plant in their home. Children learnt that they could use recycled materials like recycled papers and recycled egg trays to plant the seeds. Children took the wet recycled paper with seeds in it back home to plant in their pot.
Children developed a deeper awareness of their role in protecting the environment. Children along with their parents took the initiative to clean up the beach. With the guidance of the parents and the guide, children learnt to differentiate the things to be recycle and the things not to be recycled.
Overall, the children and their parents had a fulfilled and meaningful experience at Siloso Beach.
Event 3 - Celebrating Our Grandparents
Grandparents play a major role in moulding our children’s lives. They shared their life experiences with our children. To celebrate our grandparents with the family values such as love, care and concern, commitment and respect being instil in our children, Khalsa Kindergarten sent out a Rosette craft kit through the children across Nursery, K1 and K2.
Children did the Rosette gift card with their grandparents to show their love and appreciation to them. They wrote personalised message to their grandparents thanking them for their unconditional love. Our grandparents play an important role in our children’s lives.
