Closure: Food Donation Drive

It’s a wrap! In line with our theme, “Our Seniors, Our Treasures”, we conducted a donation drive for our Dear Seniors at Loving Heart Centre for our final activity.

Together with our supportive parents, we went to the supermarket over the weekend to buy the food items that included a packet of nestum, biscuits and a can of sardine.

On the following day, we brought the items to school. We felt ecstatic to pack the food items hoping that our Seniors will feel happy, valued and loved by us. We also added other items such as a small towel and a hand massager. Most importantly, we did not forget to place the DIY sanitiser that we made with our parents previously specially for our seniors!

Besides packing the food items, we practiced hard for our performances in school, ensuring that we get the right steps with proper coordinations.

On 16th September 2022, the media crew from ECDA came down to film our final journey in the SSDB project — Food Donation Drive.

Each one of us carried a drawstring bag of food and boarded the bus to Loving Heart. With our petite body, we struggled a little bit but stayed strong as we really wanted to share this little gift with the seniors.

When we reached Loving Hearts, the seniors were already there, ready to welcome us. We gave the seniors each a drawstring bag and said, “This is for you.”. We could see smiles on their faces.

Afterwards, the seniors asked us to join them with their exercises. We gladly followed! It was so much fun.

Then it was our turn to entertain them! We did our best with the performances and were pleased to see them enjoying as they clapped along with us.

We took a group photo and said our biggest thank you before bidding goodbye to them. We will surely miss interacting with them. This project helped us learn how to love and be loved. Till next time, Loving Hearts!
