Bring Back ‘Kampong Days’!

On 25th of April, we launched our SSDB project that involved our K1 and K2 children with a theme: Appreciating Culture and Heritage. We gathered at the void deck area where the children performed a traditional dance item and a cheer that highlight the value of preserving the culture and heritage of Singapore.

Our dear parents were very proud to see their little ones performed in bringing back the past of Songapore, that highlighted a greater awareness of heritage and local history and gave their children a sense of national identity.

We ended the event with a viewing in our Mini Museum set up at the Gym room with the displays of our very own ‘Kampong Houses’ made with recycled materials that were done by the parents and children. We also included vintage items from home that signify the memories of Singaporeans they have used and created in the past.

Parents and children spent time together at our Mini Museum and enjoyed viewing their children’s work.

Our SSDB journey will not end here. We planned to make it significant by getting our children to visit National Museum of Singapore. We believed that it is important to help our children to learn more about Singapore history and to promote the enjoyment of sharing the authenticity of cultural and natural heritage. Together we believed ‘Learning from the past, will lead us to a better world!’
