.."as one united people.."

Our team has decided to utilize the “Circuit Breaker” period’ for all of us to stay in touch and work together hand-in-hand virtually for our SSDB project this year. Even with much constraints due to COVID-19 outbreak, we strongly believe that we can never fail getting support and involvement from our home-school partnership!

• Title of our SSDB Project 2020: “.. as one united people..”

• Objectives:

  • To inculcate and nurture the value of diverse cultures in Singapore through craft activity “origami”

  • To explore different and new races and cultures in Singapore

  • To reflect on “5R” Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Respect and Responsibility (*our SSDB project in 2019)

• Activities & procedures:

  • To collate as much recycled papers at your home e.g. from old story books or magazines

  • Refer to the shared guidelines and ideas of origami activities which reflect different races and cultural messages

  • To use ONLY recycled papers for this Cultural-Origami project.

  • Each child is highly recommended to explore and do different origami with family members which reflect different significances of different cultures and races in Singapore throughout the CB period.

  • Share and exchange interesting information with your child/children as you engage them in making the origami e.g. the folding steps, the meaning/significance of cultural goods etc.

  • Take photos of you and child/children in action and email us! Additionally you can also post them in our FB. However, please note that email is the main submission mode.

  • You are also encouraged to include brief captions to either explain the intention of your selection (of origami), talk about your experience making it or even share your children’s verbal responses in the caption You are guaranteed to be amazed with your children’s responses!

After Circuit Breaker, centre resume operation on 2nd June 2020 when we collected and followed up most completed origami from children and parents! Following that, we continue to create more origami with recycled papers in relation to recent Hari Raya Festival on 19th June, Dragon Boat festival on 25th June and Racial Harmony Day on 21st July 2020 e.g. origami ‘Batik Shirt’, origami ‘Dragon Boat’, origami ‘Chinese Fan,’ origami ‘Tanjak’ etc.
