Finally, the fun begins for our children where learning takes place practically. We know what they say - “Children learn best through play.”
Over the weekend, we sourced for different types of plant seeds to kickstart our planting project. To aid the children in identifying the types of seeds, we first poured out the seeds into individual cups and placed their original packets beneath them for the children to refer to as they were being introduced to each type.
Putting their basic theoretical knowledge into actual practice, we saw our children meticulously filling the planting trays with soil using the shovel, planting the seeds in a scattered arrangement, and finishing the job with one of the most important components using a gardening can - that’s water - yes, that’s right even humans need water too and so do plants!
The children were also encouraged to count the seeds as they planted and to also observe how each type of seeds differ in size, colour, and shape.
Seeing the seeds in their flowerbeds was when the excitement kicked in - the children began to fill their watering cans and watered their plants with care. We left them out where the sunlight was the brightest and maintained them daily with ample amounts of water and most importantly, with love and responsibility towards caring for our environment.
