As part of our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) journey, Little Oxford @KE08 children engaged in a series of meaningful activities using resources from KidSTART, which helped them learn about caring for others in both fun and impactful ways.
One of the key resources used was the Big Book titled “My Caring Friends at the Sea”. This beautifully illustrated story introduced themes of kindness, empathy, and helping others. Teachers used the story to spark discussions about what it means to care for people around us.
We also explored the KidSTART Activity Book on Community Heroes, where children learned about the important roles of everyday helpers such as nurses, cleaners, delivery riders, and firefighters. To bring their learning to life, the children dramatized the roles of these community helpers, acting out different scenarios and expressing appreciation for their contributions. They also enjoyed completing various hands-on activities in the book that deepened their understanding.
Through this project, our children not only enhanced their knowledge of the community but also developed important social values — gratitude, empathy, and responsibility. These experiences allowed them to take small steps toward becoming kind and caring individuals, truly embracing the spirit of SSDB: Start Small, Dream Big.
