As part of the launch of our “Start Small Dream Big – Every Drop Counts” project, the children were introduced to the importance of water in our daily lives. Through engaging discussions and activities, they learned about the different sources of water around them and why it is vital to conserve this precious resource. The event began with a meaningful ceremony where each child designed their own “Promising Star,” pledging to become a water-saver warrior. With bright smiles and orange hats, they proudly took their first step towards making a difference.
Following the launch, the children went on an exciting excursion to the Sustainable Singapore Gallery. There, they deepened their understanding of sustainability and learned how small actions can have a big impact. During a hands-on activity, they repurposed recycled materials like egg cartons to create portable flower pots, reinforcing the message of reusing and reducing waste to protect our environment and conserve water.
Their learning journey continued with a visit to the museum, where a friendly tour guide explained where Singapore’s water comes from, including reservoirs, rainwater, and NEWater. The children explored interactive exhibits, watched educational videos, and learned simple yet effective ways to save water, such as turning off the tap when not in use. This eye-opening experience helped them see how they can play a part in protecting our water resources.
Back in school, the children created colourful posters to promote water conservation and pasted them around the school to raise awareness. Taking on the role of young water saver warriors, they visited different classes to explain their posters, share useful water-saving tips, and even demonstrate simple actions like switching off the tap while soaping hands. Through this, the children confidently spread the message that every drop counts—and that change can start with them.
