The K2 children of Eshkol Valley @ Sengkang Pearl Pte Ltd embarked on a mission to clean Marine Cove’s beach on the 9th of June 2017.
The children engaged in lots of discussion prior to the beach clean up. As the children learnt about sea creatures in Term 2, children felt they wanted to help the poor sea creatures who were entangled in marine litter. They coined the idea for a beach clean up!
Children composed a song to sing during their beach clean up too. See below for the lyrics.

In preparation for the beach clean up, children were educated on what are the things they can pick up (i.e. tissue paper, plastic bags, bottles etc.). We practised sorting the litter in school in an interactive way!
When the big day came, children seemed super pumped! In partnership with the parents, the beach clean up was a success! Children managed to pick lots of litter along the beach.
After the children returned from the beach, they embarked on the second part of their mission - Fund Raiser for ACRES! (21st and 22nd June 2017) All profit earned was donated to ACRES.
We managed to raise $423.47! 🎊🎉
Children prepared a banner for the fund raiser using the creative method of crepe paper stains.
The N2 to K2 children were involved in this fund raiser. Each child was given a mini easel and canvas and each class had a different theme to paint.

The K2 children assisted with the setup of the fund raiser’s display. Some children even helped with promoting the sales of the fund raiser!
After the donation went through, ACRES dropped by EV@SKP to conduct a talk with all the children about illegal pet trading and the types of animals that can be domesticated. 🐶🐱🐹🐰
