Children at M.Y World Preschool @ Canberra Eastlink are embarking on a meaningful project to raise awareness about food insecurity and food waste in Singapore. In collaboration with their parents, they are discovering how small actions can have a big impact!
To kick-start this exciting project, the children discovered that food waste, like fruit peels, can be reused. For example, orange peels can be turned into natural cleaning enzymes! We first asked children and parents to bring in orange peels from home. We mixed them with sugar and water to start making eco-friendly cleaning enzymes.
This year, we are proud to partner with FoodBank Singapore, Together, we plan to run food donation drives and participate in virtual activities with FoodBank to learn more about helping others. This will teach our children the importance of kindness, responsibility, and giving back.
Through this project, children and parents work together to care for the environment and support the community. We hope to inspire everyone to waste less, share more, and dream big.
