 Commencing our Urban Farm project!

Singapore is working to produce more vegetables and fruits as we work towards being more self-sufficient in food. The government has set a goal, “30 by 30”, which means that we aim to peoduce 30% of total food needs up from 10% in 2019 by year 2030. Urban farms have been set up around the island, not including future developments such as urban farms on carparks.

Singaporeans are growing up in an urban environment with little space for sprawling fields for crops. Thus our school have decided that we are going to have an urban farm so that the children can be in touch with nature and learn about the hardships and joys of urban farming.

The children started with filling the pots with organic soil. Then, they planted watermelon seeds and watered them.
