YWCA Bishan Go Green! It's for you, it's for me! Litter picking series.

Since June 2023, K1 and K2 children have continued to put in their efforts to show love and care for our environment.

This activity taught our children to keep the environment clean at the same time promoting the importance of not littering. They show by example to pick up the litter in the neighbourhood area including the park, void deck area, along the corridor and playground.

Children are willing to get their hands dirty and pick up the litter using the BBQ tong. They convey the message to the public that keeping good behaviour will start with small actions by not littering. They also get to know how to keep the surrounding area clean to avoid harmful germs and avoid getting sick.

We start the journey early in the morning. Walking hand in hand to keep the environment clean not forgetting to take of our younger K1 partner.

Children are eager to help clean up the areas using BBQ tongs and put them in recycled plastic bags. They carefully look around the school vicinity to make sure that they don’t miss out on any spot.

We end our activity by throwing the rubbish in the correct bin. They carefully put the plastic bag filled with litter and stuff it into the correct general waste bin.

We end our activity with a lighthearted mood and walk back to our classroom cleaning their hands to make sure while taking care of the environment, they also take care of their hygiene.

Children continue to walk the journey with another activity that will be uploaded in the next series. Stay tuned.
