Our SSDB project for this year aims to educate children on current environmental issues like the climate change, global warming and the likes. We would like to instil in children the sense of responsibility to contribute in Earthâs sustainability.
With this in mind, they will develop care, empathy and sense of appreciation towards the environment. As we embark on this journey, we will work hand in hand with the community to spread awareness on how we could help conserve natural resources and counter the prevalent environmental issues to make our planet a better and safer place to live in.
Most importantly, this SSDB project will provide a platform for children to feel empowered to voice out their thoughts, make a change and become effective Earth stewards. Encouraging children to create their pledge to save the Earth will be a springboard towards the articulation of their pledges. Little by little, so long as children and adults work collaboratively to make things possible then it will certainly create a powerful impact in the environment.

Now that the children are fully-equipped with knowledge and efficient set skills to carry out their tasks as environment-saving heroes, they were encouraged to take on a pledge to the Earth to constantly inspire them to responsibly perform their tasks in saving the environment.
After discussing their pledge to their teachers, they started colouring the Earth clipart provided to them. They then expressed their thoughts through writing with teacherâs assistance. They decorated their artwork with colouring materials. Lastly, they painted their hands and created a handprint on the Earth clipart to seal their promise.

Children showcased their Earth pledge during a show and tell activity. Their pledge cards were then collated and displayed at the Science Room. They posed beside the pledge cards with beaming smiles and high pride that no matter how young they are, they are capable of contributing change to the society.
