To show appreciation for our local hawkers, the children, together with their teachers, participated in a special activity where they decorated and illustrated colorful aprons that would be gifted to the hawkers at a popular Punggol hawker centre. As part of the project, the children engaged in lively discussions about the variety of cuisines available and shared which dishes they were most excited to try.
When it was time to present their creations, the children personally handed the aprons to the hawkers, expressing their heartfelt thanks for the hawkers’ dedication and hard work in serving the community. In addition to the aprons, the children designed eye-catching sustainability posters and discussed practical ways to help keep the hawker centre clean, learning the importance of caring for shared spaces.
The day was also filled with delightful culinary experiences, as the children had the opportunity to taste some of the delicious hawker food. They laughed, chatted, and explored different flavors, making the experience both educational and fun. Through this activity, the children not only learned to appreciate the hard work of others but also developed a sense of responsibility towards their community and the environment.
